The Village: Membership Terms and Conditions
Last updated: 9th October 2026.
1. Who we are
These terms cover your membership of The Joyful Activists community, including the free Community tier and the paid tier, The Village. We are The Joyful Activists, [registered company name and number, if applicable], [registered address]. You can reach us at [email address].
By joining, you agree to these terms. Please read them before you pay. If anything is unclear, email us and we will happily explain.
2. What membership includes
Community (free). Access to the monthly Community Call and any other open sessions we offer to free members.
The Village (paid). Everything in Community, plus our regular members' sessions: a Community Call in week one, Book Club in week two, Craft Club in week three, and Co-working / life admin in week four.
All live sessions take place on Zoom. The schedule may shift from time to time, for example around holidays or facilitator availability. We will tell members in advance whenever we can.
3. Price and payment
The Village costs £39 per month. Founding members pay a reduced rate of £29 per month.
Founding member rate.
The founding rate is yours for as long as your membership continues without a break. If you cancel and rejoin later, the standard rate applies.
Payments are taken monthly by card through our payment provider, Flodesk, on the same date each month as your first payment. We do not see or store your full card details.
If a payment fails, we will let you know and try again. If it still cannot be taken, we may pause your access until it is sorted.
4. Cancelling and refunds
Cancel any time. You can cancel your membership at any time by using your Flodesk account link. Your access continues until the end of the month you have already paid for, and you will not be charged again. There are no cancellation fees and nothing further is owed once you cancel.
Your 14-day cooling-off period. Under UK consumer law you have the right to cancel within 14 days of joining and receive a refund. If you ask us to give you access straight away, which joining and attending a session will do, we will deduct a fair amount for any sessions you have already attended or used in that time.
Beyond that period
We do not give refunds for months already paid, but you are never charged beyond the month you cancel.
This does not affect your legal rights, including if something we provide is not as described or not delivered with reasonable care and skill.
5. Confidentiality: what is said in The Village stays in The Village
This is the heart of our community. By joining, you agree to:
You are welcome to share your own learning and reflections, in your own words, without identifying anyone else.
The only exception is where someone is at serious risk of harm and we have to act to keep them safe, or where the law requires us to share information.
6. Community agreements
The Village is a trauma-informed, peer-supportive space for people working in activism, humanitarian work and the charity sector. We ask all members to treat each other with respect and care, to listen well, and to avoid discrimination, harassment, or pressure to share more than someone wants to.
If someone's behaviour harms the group, we may ask them to leave, or remove them from sessions or the community. If we remove you and you have paid in advance, we will refund the unused part of your current month, unless you have seriously or repeatedly broken these terms.
7. What this is, and what it is not
Membership offers community, reflection, learning and peer support. It is not therapy, counselling, medical advice or crisis support, and our facilitators are not acting as your clinicians. Please look after your own wellbeing and seek professional help where you need it.
If you are in crisis or in danger, please contact local emergency services. In the UK you can call 999, or Samaritans on 116 123 at any time.
8. Our content and your contributions
Our materials. Session content, worksheets, readings, graphics, names and branding are trademarked and belong to The Joyful Activists. You are not permitted to resell, republish or share any of our resources as your own. If you would like to use or quote something, just ask us.
Your words. What you write or say in the community remains yours. We will not publish or reuse your contributions outside the community without asking you first.
9. Your data
We collect and use your personal information in line with UK data protection law. Our Privacy Policy explains what we hold, why, and your rights.
10. Changes
We may update these terms or the membership offer from time to time. We will give you at least 30 days' notice of changes that affect you, including price changes. If you do not accept a change, you can cancel before it takes effect.
11. Our responsibility to you
We will provide the membership with reasonable care and skill. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit, and nothing here affects your statutory consumer rights. Otherwise, we are not responsible for losses that were not a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms, or for things beyond our reasonable control, such as Zoom or payment outages.
12. If something goes wrong
If you are unhappy, please tell us at [email protected].
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales can hear any dispute, although if you live elsewhere in the UK you may also have the right to bring a claim in your local courts.
